  • Online Support Groups for Adult Children Caring for a Parent with Dementia

Support for stress, grief, burnout, and the emotional challenges of caring for a parent with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia.

Caring for a parent with dementia can be exhausting, isolating, and emotionally overwhelming in ways many adult children do not anticipate.

    People find themselves navigating:

    • chronic stress and emotional exhaustion
    • changing family roles and responsibilities
    • grief, guilt, or difficult family dynamics
    • balancing caregiving with work, parenting, or partnership
    • the feeling that few people truly understand the experience

I offer online therapy groups specifically for adult children caring for a parent with dementia. These groups provide support, reflection, and connection with others facing similar challenges.

Two Types of Therapy Groups for Adult Child Caregivers

Different people need different kinds of support at different points in the caregiving experience.

Some people are looking for structure, coping tools, and support around day-to-day caregiving stress.

Others are looking for a quieter, more reflective space to explore how caring for a parent with dementia is affecting them emotionally and personally.

Current offerings include the following group formats:

    Caregiver Support & Psychoeducation Group

    Topics may include:

    • caregiver stress and burnout
    • family dynamics and difficult decisions
    • emotional overwhelm and role strain
    • coping skills and emotional support

This group combines discussion, psychoeducation, and emotional support in a structured format.

Writing & Reflection Group for Adult Child Dementia Caregivers

    Topics may include:

    • grief, memory, and meaning
    • emotional ambiguity in caregiving
    • personal meaning-making

    Writing experience is not required.

The focus is not on producing polished writing, but on reflection, emotional processing, and shared human experience.

How I Work With Adult Child Caregivers

I specialize in working with adult children caring for a parent with dementia.

My work is informed both by clinical experience and by my own experience caring for a parent with dementia.

I understand dementia caregiving as both a practical and deeply emotional experience that can affect relationships, identity, and daily life over time.
